Choosing Insulation for a Hot Attic Conversion

An attic conversion can add valuable living space, but the room directly beneath the roof is exposed to intense summer heat and winter temperature swings. Insulation must therefore do more than slow heat transfer. It should support reliable ventilation, control moisture, reduce outside noise, and fit safely around the existing roof structure.

The best material depends on the roof design, local climate, available depth, budget, and whether the project will preserve a ventilated cavity beneath the roof deck.
